What Is a Partial Hospitalization Program?
A partial hospitalization program is a structured mental health and addiction treatment program that runs for several hours a day, three to five days per week. Clients participate in scheduled treatment sessions with therapists during the day and can return home at night. This program is a step down from residential treatment, during which patients stay at the facility 24 hours a day to receive intensive and individualized care.
Partial Hospitalization Program Requirements
But how do you know if someone needs PHP rehab? When someone decides they want to seek treatment for their addiction, it can be difficult to navigate the many options available. Generally, the first step is to receive a professional clinical assessment to determine the individual’s mental and physical health.
Once specialists at our facility have conducted this assessment, they can then determine whether the individual meets the requirements for PHP drug rehab or whether another one of our programs would be better suited for them. Partial hospitalization program requirements include:
- Difficulty functioning at work, school, or other occupations due to drug or alcohol use
- Not at risk of harming self or others
- Medical stability
- Have previously undergone medically assisted detox
- Has adequate support at home
- Motivated to participate in treatment
- Has co-occurring mental health or substance use disorder
If you or someone you know is battling addiction and meets these requirements, don’t hesitate to reach out to Legacy Healing Center to find out how our partial hospitalization programs can help.
